Cohiba Short Appearance
The Connecticut Havana wrapper of the Cohiba Short has a chocolate brown colour to it. Upon closer examination, there is some darker mottling on the surface. There isn’t much oil on this wrapper. There are some visible veins and some visible wrapper seams.
The band of the Cohiba Short is silver in colour. Prominently display on the centre of the band is the text “COHIBA” in black font with a Cohiba “red dot” inside the “O”. Just below that text is the text “COHIBA” in smaller black font. Near the top and bottom of the band is a thick black stripe. There is also an additional Cohiba “red dot” toward the far right of the band.
Preparation for the Cohiba Short Cigar
Once the cap is removed, commence with the pre-light draw phase. The cold draw delivers a mix of cocoa powder, wood, and cedar. Overall, consider this to be a very good pre-light draw. At this point, ready to light up the Cigar and see what the smoking experience would have in store.
Cohiba Short Flavour Profile
The Cohiba Short starts out with notes of cocoa powder, natural tobacco, and cedar. As the flavour profile evolves during the first third, the cocoa powder becomes a primary note early on and the natural tobacco and cedar notes move into the background. The retro-hale produce an additional layer of cedar.
As the Cohiba Short moves into the second third, the natural tobacco notes increase in intensity. Just before the midway point the natural tobacco notes enter the forefront and alternate with the cocoa in the forefront. Toward the latter part of the second third, the natural tobacco notes assume control as the primary note.
In the last third of this product, the cedar notes increase and close in on the natural tobacco. By this stage, the cocoa powder notes have greatly diminished and do not play much of a role in the flavour profile. This is the way this cigar comes to a close. The resulting nub is cool in temperature, but soft to the touch.
Cohiba Short Burn and Draw
Overall, this product is a well-constructed cigar and this reflected nicely on the burn and draw. The burn path remains straight from start to finish. The burn line has a slight curvature to it, but the cigar itself isn’t prone to meandering. The cigar requires what consider to be a normal amount of touch-ups.
There is a salt and pepper colour scheme to the resulting ash, which is on the firm side. As for the burn rate and burn temperature, both are ideal.
Burn of the Cohiba Short
The draw performs very well. This ash has the right amount of resistance to it, and as a result, this is a low maintenance cigar to derive flavour from.
Cohiba Short Strength and Body
The Cohiba Short starts out with a medium-strength, medium-bodied profile. Both attributes slightly increase in intensity along the way. By the final third, the strength and body to be in the medium to full range. both of these attributes balance each other very nicely with neither attribute overshadowing the other.
Final Thoughts about Cohiba Short
Overall, the Cigar delivers a very nice flavour and have excellent construction. this cigar fell a little short when it come to complexity. the Macassar’s predecessor, the Comador has an edge.
the flavours are very good. It’s also a cigar would recommend either a novice or experienced one to try. You can buy this at Stogies & More.
