DAVIDOFF NICARAGUA BOX-PRESSED FLAVOUR PROFILE
The start to the Davidoff Dominicana Toro 2014 provides a mix of pepper, citrus, and grass notes. Early on, the grass notes transition to more of a natural tobacco flavour. There is no dominant flavour for the first ten per cent. It is around the ten per cent mark where citrus and natural tobacco emerge as the primary flavours.
The citrus also could be detected on the after-draw. The pepper became a secondary note. Meanwhile, the retro-hale took a little longer to get going, but once it did – it provide a nice sweet spice complementing the citrus and natural tobacco nicely.
Throughout the remainder of the first third and into the second third, the natural tobacco and citrus hold as the primary flavours. The pepper spice tends to move in and out from the background into the forefront from time to time.
In the last third of the Davidoff Nicaragua Box-pressed, the pepper spice moves into the forefront and the citrus recedes into the background. The citrus and pepper flavours dominate the remainder of the cigar experience. The end of the cigar has some spice, but it is not overwhelming – and it is not harsh. The resulting nub is cool in temperature, but soft to the touch.
